Your Spanish immigration process, step by step
Legal support from the first strategy session through to settling in Spain.
Behind every application, there is a decision
Nobody looks for an immigration lawyer out of curiosity.
You are here because you accepted a job in another country. Because your daughter is starting university in Barcelona. Because you have been here three years and you are tired of living with an expiration date. Because your company asked you to relocate in two months. Because a letter arrived from the Spanish authorities that you cannot make sense of, and it has been keeping you up at night.
Behind every case there is a life plan waiting for someone to say yes to it. Our job is to build the legal path that gets you that yes, and to make sure you are not walking it blind.
Every immigration case is different. Yours will be too.
Your process does not start with an application. It starts with a strategy.
Most refusals do not happen because a document was missing. They happen earlier, at the moment someone chooses the wrong route for their situation.
So we do not start with the form. We start by understanding your situation, your goals and your particular circumstances, and only then do we define the most suitable legal route.
Filing fast is worth nothing if it is not filed well. And filing well starts long before you file.
The six stages of your process
We stay with you throughout, keeping communication clear and the strategy defined at every stage. Here is what happens, and what you get, in each one.
-
01 — Reviewing your case
We look at your personal, professional and family situation, along with what you want to achieve in Spain, to weigh up the options available to you. This is the stage where we ask the most and assume the least, because a detail that seems minor (a period spent outside the country, a contract signed three months ago, a family connection) can completely change which route applies.

-
02 — Building your strategy
We identify the route that best fits your circumstances and set out the strategy, the requirements, the timeline and the steps involved. Where more than one option is viable, we explain the advantages and the risks of each, so the decision is yours and it is an informed one.

-
03 — Preparing your documents
You will receive a personalized checklist and we will guide you through gathering your documents. We review every one of them before your application is filed and, where needed, we advise you on apostilles, legalizations, sworn translations and other requirements. This is the stage where most later requests for additional documents are avoided.

04 — Filing and follow-up
We prepare and file your application with the competent authority and monitor your case throughout processing. You will not have to wonder where your application stands, or work out what an official notification means on your own.

05 — Decision and next steps
Once the decision comes through, we explain clearly what you need to do next and handle, where applicable, the steps required to put your permit into effect. An approval is not the end of the road: it is the moment when it has to be activated correctly.

06 — Your life in Spain
Our support can continue after approval: your TIE residence card, renewals, changes of status, long-term residency, citizenship or any other procedure that comes up as your project in Spain evolves. Plans change, and an immigration strategy should change with them.

One point of contact from start to finish
From your first consultation through to the end of the procedure, you will have direct advice, personal follow-up and clear communication about where your case stands and what comes next.
You will not be passed between departments, and you will not have to explain your situation from scratch every time you write. You will always be talking to someone who knows your case.
Your case is not a reference number. It is a life plan with a name on it.
What you can expect from us
An honest assessment.
If your case is not viable through the route you had in mind, we will tell you in the first consultation and look for alternatives. We would rather have an uncomfortable conversation than an avoidable refusal.
Plain language.
We work with technical legislation, but we are not going to talk to you in that language. We will explain what is being applied for, why, and what could happen.
Realistic timelines.
We do not promise fast decisions, because government processing times are not ours to control. What we do control is that your case is airtight and that any request for documents is answered immediately.
Available in your language.
English, Spanish and Chinese, with experience in matters that cross borders and legal systems.
Frequently asked questions about the process
What happens in the first consultation?
We review your personal, professional and family situation and what you want to achieve in Spain. By the end, you will know which routes are open to you, what each one requires, and what it would mean in your specific case. It is a diagnostic conversation, not a sales pitch.
What documents will I need to prepare?
It depends on the applicable route, your nationality and your circumstances. That is why we do not send out generic lists: after the initial review you will receive a personalized checklist with exactly what you need in your case and the order in which it makes sense to obtain it.
Do I need an apostille or a sworn translation?
For many procedures, yes, and this is one of the most common reasons applications get delayed. Where it applies, we identify it during the preparation stage and advise you on apostilles, legalizations and sworn translations so the deadlines do not catch up with you.
Who files the application?
We do, with the competent authority in each case. You will not have to handle the filing yourself or interpret the official notifications that follow.
How long will my case take?
Processing times depend on the procedure and on the caseload of the authority handling it, and no firm can guarantee them. What is controllable is the quality of the filing and how quickly requests for additional documents are answered, which is where most avoidable delays originate.
What happens once my permit is approved?
We explain exactly what to do next and handle, where applicable, the steps to put your permit into effect: the visa if one is required, entry into Spain, your TIE residence card and registrations. After that, support can continue with renewals, changes of status, long-term residency or citizenship.
Let’s start by understanding your case
The first stage of the process is a conversation. Tell us about your situation and we will explain which routes are open to you and what each one would involve.
