General regime · Spanish Immigration Regulations
Family reunification
A permit that allows people living legally in Spain to bring certain family members to live with them.
Is this the right option for you?
It is designed for general-regime residents who want to bring their spouse or partner, their children or their parents to Spain. The requirements depend on your permit and your nationality.
It is also the route for family members who came with you from the start, for example under a non-lucrative residence permit or as family members of a student. When you change to a residence and work permit as an employee or self-employed, family reunification is the route for them, and it can be filed from Spain together with your application or after your new permit is approved.
We identify which regime applies to you before starting, because holders of Law 14/2013 permits and family members of Spanish or EU nationals follow different routes.
If you hold a Law 14/2013 permit (for example, the digital nomad visa), your family members can apply with you, without waiting for the first year.

These are the essential requirements. The specific documents may vary depending on your nationality, your personal situation and changes in the law.
Length of residence
Having lived legally in Spain for at least one year and having applied to reside for at least one more year.
Eligible family members
Spouse or partner, minor children or children with a disability, people under your legal representation and dependent parents. To bring your parents, you must hold a long-term or EU long-term residence permit.

For a two-person household, 150 % of the monthly IPREM, plus 50 % for each additional member. There are specific rules when reunifying minors.
